WHAT IS AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR LEAN SIX SIGMA ACCREDITATION?

American Society for Lean Six Sigma (ASLSS) accreditation is a process by which educational Lean Six Sigma (LSS) programs, organizations, educational institutions or individual Master Black Belt (MBB) providers are reviewed to determine if they meet certain standards of quality. Accreditation is the process in which certification of competency, authority, or credibility is presented.

Certification vs. Certi-fiction

“Having viewed the offers you can find on the internet and I contacted a few of the providers for more information. I soon came to realize they are just selling certificates, not providing Lean Six Sigma training. It is enough to do a Google search on Lean Six Sigma and some of the first results are one day Green Belt certification, two days Black Belt, and one of my favorites, 3 day Master Black Belt classroom certification with no prerequisites whatsoever. This is getting way worse lately and reminds me of one of the threads posted on one of the Linkedin’s Lean Six Sigma groups: ” Certification vs. Certi-fiction…”  The intent of starting this endeavor was not for profit, but rather to make sure we have standardization in place for at least the mandatory items that should be included as part of the training and certification. The eligibility criteria for being part of the society it is very strict in terms of the organization’s reputability, project components, exam, number of days/hours and items included in the curriculum for each belt level.We strongly believe that we are implementing the required standardization across the board, and sort out the companies that are detrimental to the progress of Lean Six Sigma industry.

The reason we have chosen the name American Society for Lean Six Sigma is to be representative and recognized worldwide in a similar manner to the American Society for Quality. There is no doubt in my mind that with the biggest names in Lean Six Sigma gathered around this issue, we can absolutely make a difference and diminish or put a stop to the watering down of Lean Six Sigma”
